Content Filtering

Service upgrade
We have now purchased our web filtering and monitoring service from Securly and are starting to roll out the service to schools.

This will provide an improved service to what we currently offer, and each school will be able to access their own dashboard to view live data and access the school’s online activity.

This new service more than meets the standards set by the DfE.
Blocking access to harmful, inappropriate, and dangerous websites is essential for a school to fulfil their Safeguarding responsibilities.

The filtering can prevent students from visiting malicious sites, shield them from inappropriate online material, and maintain a safe and productive learning environment.

The service is UKSIC, KCSIE and IWF compliant, and sites can be added or removed manually via your dashboard.

The new Securly service connects to your Office 365 or Google email tenancy – This will allow you to see the specific user logged in to the device at the time the content was accessed.

You can view activity based on a specific user, category, type or all of the above, to give you an overview or targeted view of the data.

You can apply different levels of filtering based on your email security groups – Apply different filtering rules for staff and pupils, for different age groups, allow less strict filtering during a certain time, etc.

You will also have three main options for YouTube: Full access, No access and Limited access.
After choosing one of these three options, you can also block or allow specific videos and Channels, giving you more control over the content.

Existing service
We are currently using a Fortinet filtering solution until the new Securly service has been rolled out to everyone.
